  1. I will tell you all my funny incident first. When I was a journalism student, I had written my first article. Needless to say I was excited to see it in print.

My friend advised me to take it to Bangalore's leading newspaper. "The editor has written few books, tell her you loved them. You will win few brownie points."

The silly girl that I was, I told the editor "I have read all your books. " She gave me a snooty look and said, "Really, but I haven't written any books." After that incident I make it a point to research the people I am meeting, and never follow my friend's advice.

  2. How embarrassing. That sort of thing still happens to me, but now not so often!

  3. Carole, I found it embarrassing then, but now I laugh at my silliness. I was so naive then.

  4. Thanks Rachna! I love it, it's so pretty!
HOnestly I can't think of anything funny that's happened in my writing career bc my writing career is so short!
Your story is so funny, thanks for sharing!

  7. Thank you Rachna! It was so nice of you to think of me! I'm honored, and so glad we met through this adventure called blogging.

I cannot think of anything funny right now, but it is early morning here in the states. If I think of something, I will let you know:)

    Thanks again!
Blessings to you and your readers,

  9. Rachna, you are so sweet! Thanks so much for sharing the award with me. I truly appreciate it. And congratulations on all your pretty awards. You deserve every single one of them, because you always put out such great writing tips and inspiration.

A funny thing...well, I cringed when it first happened, but I had a manuscript ACCEPTED (yay!) and the editor wanted me to send a final digital copy of the manuscript. I went through it one more time, and realized I had an "it's" where it needed to be "its." I was so embarrassed! AND it was in the first paragraph! Ugh. Thankfully they didn't decide I was a knucklehead and bought the article anyway, but still...

Thanks again for all you do, and I hope you have a great weekend!

  10. Thanks so much for the award :) My embarrassing writing story comes from high school. I worked on the school paper and frequently submitted poetry for the art page at the last minute (I may be a slacker...) Well, I was in such a hurry one day, I submitted a... special (cough cough) poem I'd written for my girlfriend and it got published before I could catch it. I'd never blushed so much in my life as I did walking the halls that week.

  12. Congratulations on the awards! Funny story? Well, I once submitted an article to a magazine--and spelled my own name wrong in the byline. Thankfully the typo was corrected before publication :-)

  13. Oh, thank you for the lovely award, Rachna! As for something funny... I'm ashamed to say I can't think of any funny anecdotes about my route to publication - it's all been incredibly serious. Maybe that's what's funny. I should lighten up some, huh?

  15. Thank you so much! I haven't had anything funny yet happen to me--ask me again after I try to teach a room full of writers--more like pathetic things--like querying too soon:)

  16. Rachna--*HUGS* Thank you sooo much for thinking of me! I really appreciate it!

Let me see, a funny thing that happened in my writing career... Yes, I'm clearly articulate when I write, but I forget simple every day words when I speak out loud with live, breathing people. Grrrr!!! >(

Have a splendid weekend, my friend! :)

  19. Rachna,
Thank you, again, for the award love! I'm enjoying your words of wisdom and am so happy we've connected. Most embarrassing writing event. Um... when I inadvertently spelled "assess" as "asses" in a client publication. Ugh! Fortunately, it had NOT gone to print.

  21. Where on earth did my comment go? I'm sure I posted one this weekend...

Oh well, I'll just say it again. Congratulations on your awards, Rachna. They're all well deserved.

And thank you so much for passing me the circle of friends award. I'll treasure it.

  22. Hello Rachna,
Thank you so much for the award. Well I guess a funny thing that has occurred through writing is when I thought my main character was my main character. After I finished all the illustrations I finally realized that it was never my main character because the other character just took everything over... and the whole time I was not catching on..
