Awards, Awardees and Secrets

I know that I have been a hoarder as I have received few awards and have not passed them on. Its time to do that now. Few months back Elizabeth Mueller gave  me the Honest Scrap Award and few days back Lynda Young  gave me the Sweet Friends Award. I would like to  pass  both the awards.

The rules of the awards are to thank  and link back to the person who gave you the award and share few things about  yourself. Thank you Elizabeth and Lynda.

My Awardees for the Honest Scrap Award are:

My Sweet Friends Blog  (Happy 101) Awardees are:

I will share 6 things  related to my  writing:

  1. I like the power  of a writer’s imagination: the wonderful worlds our words create.

  1. I  like to explore different themes in my short stories and books.

  1. I like to create believable characters: my characters must resemble real people.

  1. I  like being haunted by my characters when I am writing about them.

  1. I like to incorporate subtle messages in my stories.

  1. I like a hint of mischief in my characters.

Now its time to tell you 6 (secret) things unrelated to my writing. I think its time we all get to know each other a little better.

1.      I  am  prone to CGS (Continuous Giggle Syndrome). I have giggled continuously for an hour and half in the company of my sister and nieces.

2.      I am extremely  attached to my  Parents and Spiritual Master. They are my strength as well as weakness.

3.      In my mid teens I wanted to be a model. My best friend and  I bunked college to go for an audition, but chickened out at the last minute and returned back to college.

4.      I am  addicted to the 3 W’s (writing, workout and worship). If I miss even one of them, then my grumpiness is to be avoided at all costs.

5.      I  believe that Destiny is all about choice and not chance. It’s the choices we make that determine the chances we get. I believe If I  have to have regrets, then I would rather have the regret that I tried and  failed, than the regret that I didn’t try at all.

6.      I  am a complete chatterbox. I am always ready for long chats. Strangers at airports end up confiding their life stories to me, as do most people.

What about you all? Any secrets you would like to share. I promise not to tell anyone.

My Awardees and What do Blogging Awards Mean

Young Adult fiction writer Lydia Kang gave me my second blogging award  The Versatile Blogger Award. Lydia,  a doctor, mother and writer  is a wonderwoman, who balances all her  responsibilities beautifully. Thankyou Lydia for the award!

I had secretly envied the slew of awards on my blogging friends’ blogs, often wondering when I would join them  by having if not that many, then  atleast  few awards to display on my blog. I think Lydia the telepathic doctor sensed my secret desire and  like a  good doctor quickly prescribed the remedy by giving me the award.

Lia Keyes, British fantasy writer, founder of Scribblerati,  and host of #Scribe Chat  the weekly  chat for writers on Twitter  gave me my  first blogging award  The Sugar Doll  Blogger Award within a week of my entering the world of blogs.

I just love the idea of these blogging awards. We writers crave recognition in varied forms. These blogging awards  are a way of recognizing the time and effort we invest in creating a blog and connecting with like minded souls who share our ups and downs and become co-pilgrims in our more often uphill  pilgrimage that leads to the blissful sanctuary or shall I say temple called publication.

Our writing friends come as blessings in disguise. Not only do they generously  share the knowledge they have accumulated in their individual pilgrimages to publication via their blogs, they also help with valuable and timely advice that brings us closer and closer to our  own tryst with publication.  I have loved visiting each  of  my blogging friends’  blogs, smiling at their humor, pondering over the questions they have asked, tucking away the  writing tips they have shared for future use, nodding at similar sentiments expressed,  often wondering what their next post will be about.

Though I am just three months old in the world of  blogging, I have  learnt a lot : that sharing knowledge and experiences  only enhances them, that what we give to the world  returns double fold. I  am  enjoying  every moment  of  it and am looking  forward to connecting with more co-pilgrims and making more blogging buddies.

I am supposed to pass  The Versatile Blogger Award to five bloggers.

 My awardees are

  1.  Lia Keyes at  The Scribbler
  2.  Birgitte Necessary  at  Necessary Writers
  3.  Sheryl Gwyther at  Sheryl Gwyther-Author
  4.  Victoria Dixon at  The Ron Empire Wants You
  5.  Rahma at  Guardian Cats

What has blogging  taught you? What do Blogging awards mean to you all?  Please share, we would love to know.

The Fabulous Sugar Doll Blogger Award

British Fantasy Writer Lia Keyes, founder of Scribblerati, and host of the Scribechat on Twitter, gave me The Fabulous Sugar Doll Blogger Award on my first week anniversary of blogging. Thank you Lia. I am thrilled. This is my first writing award. Hope  more  awards  follow this one. This award will be cherished as it has come from a writing friend/mentor, and a lady I admire and respect tremendously.

I am suppose to tell you ten unusual things about myself. And pass the award  on to five more people. Here they are:

1. At any given time I am reading two books, and writing the same number.

2. I have this Obsessive Compulsive Disorder to correct the spellings when my friends, or, for that matter anyone writes a letter to me. My friends who are aware of this habit, prefer talking to me, than emailing, or messaging me.

3. I have a habit of haunting people when they borrow my books. The best way to keep in touch with me is by borrowing my books. It will guarantee regular phone calls from me to check the status of the book/s.

4. I prefer to read the book first, than watch its movie adaptation. As the movies seldom do justice to the books.

5. For any series,  I am extremely particular about reading them in the order they were written.

6. I have an uexplainable  fear of snakes, lizards, and medical examinations, especially dental checkups.

7. In school I played the flute.

8. Parties bore me, the louder they are, the more bored I get.

9. For each new book I write, I am particular about using the same type of paper and pen.

10. I can eat chocolates any time of the day.

Here are my Awardees

1. Elizabeth Varadan at Elizabeth Varadan's Fourth Wish

2. Robyn Campbell at Putting Pen to Paper

3. Sytiva Sheehan at Sytiva Painting

4. Kathleen O’Keefe Kanavos at Surviving Cancerland

5. Katie Dahl at My Antiquated Cup of Tea
