Holiday Plans and a Blog Break

The holidays are at our doorstep. I have made extensive plans for this holiday season. No, it’s not travelling, but catching up with my reading (my TBR pile has reached epic heights). And as college will be closing by the third week of December, I thought I will take a small blog break and catch up with lots of writing and writing related activities. I am really looking forward to this break as I badly need to energize myself. From the past few months I have been over working and trying to meet deadlines for the newspaper features which have kind of drained me out.

I have nearly completed the rewrites for an older WIP. I would like to polish it some more and would like to submit it early next year. Have decided to query a few agents. So need to write a great query letter (easier said than done) and a synopsis for it. My deadline for querying it is the first week of January.

I would also like to work a little on a Shiny New Idea that jumped into my mind when I visited Gary’s (Klahanie’s) blog. While seeing a picture of his dog Penny, the shiny new idea wedged itself firmly in my mind. I want to work on it a little to see how it goes.

What are your holiday plans? Will you be catching up with your reading? Will you get working on your manuscripts? Will you be travelling? What will you all be doing?

My next post will be on January 8, 2014 for the IWSG.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance.

  1. Happy Christmas. I hope you have a great blog break. I really need to catch up on my reading, but whenever I sit down with a book I feel I ought to be writing instead. I might follow your lead and take some time over Christmas.

I love the picture you've posted!

  2. Wishing you a Happy New Year, too. I hope to complete all my reading before this holiday season, so that I can start writing by January. I've got an idea for my next, but a lot of research is involved in that. I'll have to start doing that on the sides, right now! Altogether, a busy time ahead :)

All the best with your manuscript submission.

  3. Sounds like a great time to take a break. Most people do for the holidays. I just have one more post on Monday and then a book giveaway hop on 12/21 for the rest of the year. We're having a quiet holiday at home. I'm hoping to read, write a bit, and start an online class as well as do a few fun things with my daughter. Enjoy your break and hope you get lots of reading and writing done.

  4. Enjoy your break and your reading catch up time, Rachna.

I'm going away after Christmas, but am still hoping to work on my newest WIP then. Unless I finish the first draft before we go. Then I'm taking a break. I'm hoping that will happen, but it's not looking likely.

  12. Hi Rachna,

A nice, relaxing break. I wish you much fulfilment and positivity with your writing endeavours.

Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar is delighted in your mention of having a Shiny New Idea. She recalls your comment mentioning this. I, here mere human, is also delighted.

I shall be resting and reflecting, for this time of the year is especially quiet for me.

    Have a lovely break.

    A peaceful Christmas and a positive 2014,

    In kindness,

    Gary :)
