Though these social networking sites: Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, Blogger, connect us with people from the remotest corners
of the world, giving us news and views instantly, they are also a huge drain on
our time. We are so addicted to these sites that we constantly browse through them
to see what has happened since the last time we were online.
I have become pretty active on Twitter and trust me
when I say this, time flies while I am online. I click on a link shared by an
agent or a writer, read the article, go on to read a few more similar articles,
and before you know it, sixty minutes have flown past, maybe more.
And with smart
phones, things are pretty easy. I don’t even have to switch on my laptop to
check anything. I wonder whether our lives will ever remain the same. Will we
ever be able to manage without our smartphones and our presence on all these
sites. We all can successfully divide our lives into before and after the
social-networking sites.
How much time
do you all spend online? Do you have an account on all the sites?
P.S. As many of my blog buddies are doing the A to Z
Challenge, I am keeping my post short.
That's why I limit my social sites. I don't have time.
ReplyDeleteAnd today, I will be online for many, many hours...
I find myself spending more time now that I have an iPhone. It really does make it so much easier! And I am getting addicted to Instagram. I know I need to manage my time better but I really do enjoy being online so I don't view it as a total waste.
ReplyDeleteI am online more than I should be to accomplish the number of writing projects I'd like to do. :) Working on curtailing it, and finding a good balance.Happy April! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. And then of course I check my blogroll daily to see what posts interest me. For some reason, I waste the most time on Facebook, which really bothers me. I don't even like it that much! I much prefer Pinterest or Instagram. Or visiting blogs. I've got to limit my social media time or it can get out of hand. It's a huge time suck otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI give myself cut-off times for checking my blog, email, news, etc. I need the down time. :)
ReplyDeleteLife has changed for sure with smartphones and things will never be the same again:)
ReplyDeleteI spend quite a bit of time on Facebook, because I have so many far flung relatives and friends. But I don't have a smart phone and don't plan to have one. I also spend some time reading blogs, but don't post as much as I used to. At present, medical problems and writing projects have taken priority, and I'm trying to be quite disciplined about that.
ReplyDeleteIt varies from day to day, depending on many factors. I can only guess at how much time I spend, but I try to make it as little as possible. I rarely, if ever, read something that takes more than a few minutes. If a blog post is long, say, longer than 500 words, I probably will stop reading it or scan the rest of it. I don't surf the web much, only when looking for certain information. I enjoy being on the internet, but time is too valuable to waste.
ReplyDeleteTime really does fly when I'm on social media. I'm on Twitter here and there throughout the day, but I spend the most time on Instagram liking pictures. And of course there's my blog as I reciprocate comments.
ReplyDeleteI used to spend much more time on social media, but I have cut it down dramatically. It's not that I don't love it, I just have other life's priorities at the moment...
ReplyDeleteWhy too much time online, checking Facebook, and watching videos or reading articles on humor websites. I really need to limit my time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. Happy Spring!
