My Writing Happiness

I am happiest when I am writing (a lot) and reading (a lot) and sending out submissions (though I do suffer from anxiety then, I am also thrilled to be sharing my work with agents and editors and getting closer to a publishing contract) and ofcourse blogging (by this I mean visiting all my close blog buddies and seeing what they have been upto behind my back).

Even if one of these elements is missing, then my writing happiness goes for a toss. And the actual writing suffers. I end up writing crappy scenes, which I eventually discard.

From last two weeks I have neither written a lot, nor read a lot, nor visited any blogs. But I have sent a few queries out. And completed the research for my Ganesha and Kartikeya book and written just a few chapters.

I plan to change all this now. I’m planning get back into my rhythm of writing, reading and blogging. Starting from today I’ll visit all my regular blog buddies (feeling bad that I have not been able to visit your blogs from the past few weeks), work on the Ganesha book and read a book every week.

What gives you all writing happiness? What disrupts your writing happiness?

  1. Glad you're getting back into your comfortable routine. For me, my job as a nonfiction writer is satisfying my writing and researching needs and keeping me constantly busy writing. I'm really starting to embrace and love my new writing career.

  2. Being stuck with a troublesome outline is disrupting me right now!
Get back in the groove and hit all those happy points.

  3. Being stuck, or feeling like I'm just writing the crappiest scenes ever, definitely disrupt my happy time. But eventually I get through it!

  4. I agree with your happiness, and your anxiety over submissions. Not reading definitely disrupts my writing happiness. Also, drama. I can't write if there is drama in my life.

  8. My writing happiness comes from actually putting new words on a page or editing a completed ms. I haven't had that in a while and want it back.

  9. So that would explain why I've seen you on the blogs I've visited, Rachna. My writing happiness is much like yours, without the submitting. I especially love the editing part of writing. :-)

  10. Writing makes me happy, Rachna ~ I love to write, even when I'm struggling and gnashing my teeth, even if it's merely commenting on a post I have enjoyed. I get really frustrated when life's must dos get in the way. We've been preparing for a possible move this summer, and I've been beyond frustrated. And, like you recently, I haven't ben able to visit my blogging buddies regularly. But I'm happily trying to get back in the swing of blogging. Have a great weekend!
